Introduction

The 11th INALCO conference ‘New Frontiers in Light Metals’ will be held at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands on June 23-25, 2010.

It will consist of keynote lectures by invited speakers as well as oral and poster presentations of papers submitted by attendees.

Architecture, Construction, Design, Transport, Automotive, Surface treatment, Light Metals Technology, Recycling and New Applications are topics to be considered.

An exhibition of new developments as well as an excursion programme will also be prepared. The proceedings of INALCO 2010 will be published during the conference.

Aluminium alloys and light metals are widely utilized for building and civil engineering structures, aircraft, storage tanks, rolling stock, automotive and marine applications because of their light weight, relatively high strength-to-weight ratio and good corrosion resistance. Bolting, welding and bonding are the most important, versatile and realistic joining processes for these constructions.

The objective of the International Aluminium Conference (INALCO) is to present and discuss topics relevant for various products and constructions in aluminium.
This is to be achieved through the exchange of knowledge and experience of engineers and researchers in a variety of fields.

The 1st International Conference of welded products and constructions with aluminium alloys was held at Cleveland, USA in 1979 and established as INALCO at the 2nd conference held in Munich, Germany in 1982. Since then these conferences have been held every 3 years at different locations all over the world.

As stated above the INALCO 2010 conference has a wide scope on all aspects concerning aluminium applications.

The INALCO conferences are highly successful and well recognized by engineers, researchers and scientists from many countries working for research and academic organizations, as well as specialists of many industries including marine, automotive, transportation and other applications.
